Gaby Agis
Dance Artist, Artistic Director/Choreographer, Gaby Agis & Company
Gaby Agis is one of the pioneers of collaborative performance
in Britain, working with leading artists of her generation from
other disciplines in galleries, museums and theatres. She founded
Gaby Agis & Company in 1985 and the artists she has worked with are
Isaac Julien, sculptors Kate Blacker and Cornelia Parker, composers
David Sylvian and Gavin Bryars, architects Muf, and the director
Atom Eyogan. She was commissioned to choreograph the Royal Opening
of the Millennium Bridge in 2001, and among her recent work is
Touch Un-Sited, which was performed as part of the celebrations
for Architecture Week 2005. Gaby is a recipient of numerous
public
awards and has taught Skinner Releasing Technique at the
Introductory and Ongoing levels extensively in Britain, Europe and
America.
Kirsty Alexander
Dance Artist, Assistant Director, London Contemporary Dance School
After studying law, and then training in dance at Laban, Kirsty
enjoyed an extensive performance career working with a diverse
range of dance and theatre companies, including Michael Clark,
Rosemary Butcher, Gill Clarke, Gaby Agis, Station House Opera and
Michel Laub. Her own choreographic work is often site-specific
and in collaboration with artists from other disciplines. She is
a certified teacher of Skinner Releasing Technique, is well
respected for her research into somatics and dance training,
and is currently studying the philosophy of education. Kirsty has
taught extensively in a wide variety of professional and educational
contexts and was Head of Undergraduate Studies at Laban from 2000-
2004.
Joe Moran
Dance Artist, Artistic Director, Dance Art Foundation
Joe Moran is a dance artist, curator and Artistic Director of
Dance Art Foundation. He creates dance and video works that are
presented in theatres, galleries and public spaces.
As a dancer,
Joe
has worked with a number of distinguished
choreographers
including
Deborah Hay, Siobhan Davies (Bank project),
Kate Brown,
Gaby Agis,
Christopher House (Toronto Dance
Theatre),
Florence Peake
and
Stephanie Skura (improvisation projects). He trained
in dance
and
choreography independently at studios in London,
New York,
San Francisco
and Seattle, with postgraduate study at London Contemporary
Dance School
following his training in
theatre at
Bristol University.
Joe is
a certified
teacher of
Skinner Releasing Technique,
a visiting
lecturer
in dance
and
performance at universities in the UK,
and
teaches independently
for
studios, dance companies and arts organisations in London and internationally.
Florence Peake
Independent Dance Artist
Florence Peake is a movement artist venturing into the textural
world of language. She has been creating her own work independently
and in collaboration with other artists since 1998, which have
been performed nationally and internationally. Training in dance
and a background in painting, her practice now uses artists’
materials, film, text and movement. Site and the placement of
performance, finding its right home are important factors; Coventry
Cathedral housed Duets for Objects (2008) and the National Portrait
Gallery hosted Paper Portraits (2007). She teaches extensively in
dance, improvisation and is a certified Skinner releasing teacher.
She is currently doing an MA in Contemporary Performance Making at
Brunel University.
